Once your project is saved, open a DVD authoring program and burn your file to DVD. You will be asked to choose file settings for your project.Ĥ) If you’d like to burn your project to a DVD, follow step three. Name your project and choose the location for the file to be stored to when prompted. Below the text box are options for animation and font and color settings for your title. Movie Maker will ask you where you would like to place the title or credits. To add the effect to a clip, drag it to the clip you would like to apply it to.Ĥ) To add titles or credits, select “Make titles or credits” from the “Edit Movie” list on the left side of the window. To preview an effect, select it and press play in the preview window. A list of effects will appear in the clips area. To add the transition to your project, drag it to the place you want to insert it in the timeline.ģ) To apply an effect to a video clip, select “View video effects” from the “Edit Movie” list on the left side of the window. Drag the playhead to the point you would like the new clip to end and choose “Set End Trim Point”. When you have captured what you need, choose “Finish”. Select “Start Capture” to start capturing video and “Stop Capture” to stop it.
To control the DVD/VCR you must use the buttons on the combo unit. The video capture window will appear.ĥ) The controls in the video capture window will only work for a mini-DV tape. Select the appropriate settings and click next to get to the Capture Wizard.Ĥ) Choose “Capture parts of the tape manually”, and click Next. A window will appear prompting you for a name for your file and a location to save it.
Go to step 3.Ģ) If you are importing footage from a mini DV tape or from a DVD or VHS tape, insert the tape into the converter box or combo unit.ģ) Select “Capture from video device” from the Capture Video menu in the upper left part of the window. Movie Maker can be used to create instructional video podcasts or movies from images and/or video.
There are two PC’s in the Educational Technology lab in Taylor 205 with staff to assist you. Windows MovieMaker is a free video editing application that comes packaged with Windows XP and is available for download from the Microsoft website.
